"Bird Box" Directed by Sussane Bier, and produced by; Bluegrass Films and Chris Morgan Productions. It is a Sci-fi and Horror themed film. The basis and theme of the movie is that simply, by looking at some entity that suddenly arrived, either from the Earth itself OR outer space causes people to have extreme suicidal tendencies, leading them to do things such as ram vehicles at high speed, repeatably causing blunt trauma to themselves or even throwing themselves off of high altitude buildings. This theme is immediately shown after the introduction to the main character, where as the wanders the hospital we have a wide shot of a lady smacking her head against glass, with large amounts of blood spooling from the wound.

Regarding the way the the movie is shot, Sussane Bier takes a liking to uses of wide pan shots, over shoulder shots, crane shots and extreme close ups, each used evidently during scenes such as the car crash near the beginning where a wide shot is used to show off the great explosion and practical effects. Another use of a extreme close up, is when the camera zooms in on a persons eyes after having viewed "The entity".

Sound production of "Bird box" uses a great use of non diagetic sounds, added post production, such as the "Whooshing sounds" the invisible entities create, or the great tense sound track used to build impressive amounts of tension as we lean on the edge of our seats. The diagetic sounds used are also equally well used, with dialogue used between characters, the atmosphere of bustling people running for a hiding space in the chatotic environment, or the sounds of technology such as the tv going static when news stations stop broadcasting.

In conclusion Bird Box is a great example of horror/action, using great uses of sound, camera work and music to really build the atmosphere and theme of this movie.
